Mission: 2nd Star on the Right....
Crew,
We have an away team on the derelict ship under the command of Captain House. In Engineering, the engines and warp core is missing completely, almost like it was never installed. The computer core looks like the same acid that aged and almost destroyed the decking was poured on the computer core and the gaps in the information left on it is big enough to drive a shuttle through it. In sickbay, the skeleton of a newborn boy was found wrapped in moldering cloths in a cupboard, the only skeleton on the ship. And in a cryo chamber is a the perfectly preserved body of a crewman who was identified as Hilton Johnson, the ops officer on the Mariposa and the first person to see the "ghost ship" on the Mariposa and his cause of death was unknown, he was simply found dead at his post an hour after the ship vanished. The ship's log also has holes in the big enough for runabouts to fly through. But as there is no power on the Mariposa, it needs to be brought back to the Aldrin to read.
All over the ship are piles of dust, that after scanned turned out to the remains of those who were on the ship, turned into skeletons and then to dust, all in just a few days, possibly even a few hours. On the bridge of the Mariposa, the crew that was there are also piles of dust, but in the captain's chair, a gemstone appears to be in the middle of the dust and turns out to be the man's heart petrified into a almost blue-red ruby. On the pleasure decks, the piles are all over as people were caught in the middle of their activities, the pool water in all the pools was cloudy with the dust that would be the remains of those caught in the pool at time of death.
On the Aldrin, the three survivors, who were found in the escape pod, have been sedated and put into cryo chambers on the Aldrin for the moment. They have been given meds to help stabilize their systems and hopefully with time, they will be able to get over the trauma. For now, they are sleeping and hopefully peacefully.
This week, the away team will need to finish their search of the derelict and return to the Aldrin with their findings. We have extended our shields around the Mariposa and will tow it back to Vulcan for further study. There is one anomaly on the derelict that doesn't make any sense. All the living plants are lush and growing, still young as they are only a few months old, and they are thriving, when all else is dead. Even the foods in storage has rotted, all except the plants and hydroponics. Go figure that one out.
The mystery grows, and after we tow the ship back to Vulcan, then we have to continue on our way. We need to find answers the best we can. We will even leave the survivors on Vulcan to get the help they need from the logical minds of the Vulcans. So, good luck, to us all as we try to solve this mystery before we are caught up in it.
