A Personal Joint Log between Lt. Flowerpetal Sheme and Lt. Sineade Darnell
(This takes place right after Flower falls asleep on Sineade’s lap.)
Lt. Flower Sheme stood at the tactical station, aboard the USS Aldrin. She checked her board and everything looked clear. She glanced to her right and saw her old Academy partner leaning with his back to the rail.
"So, what's new?" Ensign Soan th'Hanera asked, calmly. The Andorian's antennae swiveled lightly, showing that he was totally at ease.
"Man Soany, you wouldn't believe what happened during a game of war games," Flower said to Soan.
Soan gave her a side-long glance."Try me."
"We were up against SI for the last leg, and they tried to get me to break USA ing your voice, and said that we dated in the academy. The only time we had dinner together was as friends," Flower started to explain.
The Andorian laughed heartily.
"Thought saying that we dated would break me," she went into further explanation.
Soan looked at her amusement in his eyes, and his anttennae swiveling playfully. "I hope you just laughed at them."
"well... " Flower hesitatantly started.
Soan's antennae abruptly started to twitch. "Well, what?"
"not exactly," she finished a little embarrassed.
What, exactly, then?" The Andorian asked a bit tersely.
"Tried to tell the voice that it wasn’t true, that I dated Rait,” she answered her friend.
Soan's gaze became more business-like. "Why didn't you just dismiss it altogether?"
"I don’t know"
Her friend's antennae twitched again. "Flower, Flower, Flower," Soan said with aggravation in his voice. "You're still falling for people's ploys. Think about it a moment. If I were truly trying to get your codes from you, how do you think I would try to convince you?"
"that you were alive, not dead,” Flower stated factly.
"Well, that would be a given," he said matter-of-factly. "I mean, why would I need your codes if I... Well, since I am dead?"
"I guess i wasnt thinking correctly,” Flower admitted shamefully
Soan pushed off the rail, turned to her and crossed his arms over his chest. "Well, duh. If I were alive right now, do you know what I would do?"
"bore your eyes into my fur"
Soan gave her that "wrong!" look he did many times with her. "more than that," he said sarcastically.
you leave my tail alone!” Flower warned him.
Soan's antennae swiveled in amusement.
Right? Flower asked, for confirmation, when the Andorian did not answer.
"I would more than likely thwap you upside the back of your head," the Andorian said more like an aggravated teacher. "I've told you time and again, you cannot let people get into your head when you are responsible for the safe defense of your ship and crew."
yeah I remember that reality check."
"If you don't get your act together, Rookie, I will come back from the eternal ice and haunt you."
“Okay Soan,” She purred delightfully.
"Now, wake up or you will be late for your shift." ::all of a sudden his voice shifted to sound like her friend, Lt. Sineade Darnell, asking her if she was alright.
Sineade sat with her friends head in her lap, gently stroking the fur and speaking quietly, "Everything will be all right, Petal Girl."
Flower slowly opened her eyes, “Tinker? Where am I? Wasn’t I just at my post?”
Sineade smiled as she continued to stroke the fur on Flower's head as she would a little child, "That was a little while ago, Tank. We brought you in here so you could ... relax a little. And then you sort of fell asleep."
Flower sat up trying to clear her head. She thought about her dream, “No way is intel getting my codes!”
"That's the spirit," Sineade said cheerfully, "We'll show them who's boss around here. And it Ain't them!" Sineade rubbed her legs now that the weight of her friends head was off them, she could feel the tingling telling her the blood was flowing again. "How are you feeling?"
“Like an old friend put some sense into me. “She purred.
Sineade raised her eyebrows, "That old friend's name wouldn't happen to be Soan, would it?"
Flower nodded, “That’s right. He gave me more advice on how to handle this better. “
Smiling as she stood up and moved her legs to get the tingling feeling to go away, "Good, because that fake one was definitely getting on my nerves," Sineade said hotly, "Made me want to break their neck, whoever it really is!"
“Back at the academy, he would always give advice to help me. And this dream was no different. “ Flower looked out to tactical console.
Sineade smiled and tilted her head, "are you sure it was just a dream? I mean, I believe the spirits of those we cared for watch over us and are there to help when we need it most."
Flower just purred, “I am sure it was my dream. Now I should get to my post.”
Sineade nodded, "OK. I'm sure the Commander will be glad to see you back."
