Mission:
Refit and Restock
Location: Earth
Dean was off at the local grocery while Teaya began supper prep. He should be back any time. She stepped outside to pick some wild flowers for the vase on the dinner table. Walking to the east side of the house something was terribly wrong. There were footprints all over the east and north side of the house. She immediately turned and went back in securing the cabin and grabbing her phaser.
Which it really wasn’t that long before he was stepping up to the house. The couple of bags in hand. Reaching to open the door to find it locked. Okay, did she always do that? Knocking on it, “Teaya?”
Hearing the knock then Dean calling her name she went to the door to let him in.
"Something doesn't feel right." She quickly explained about the prints when she went out. "No one has ever bothered anything here in the past seven years that I have owned this place and it's not even so much that someone walked through. It seems they were watching us. The feeling I get is not good."
“Watching us?” Putting the groceries on the table. “I didn’t see any footprints when I was out chopping wood,” not that he didn’t believe her. Going to look out the window a moment.
Teaya gave a slight shrug and gestured with her hand for him to help himself to look. "If they weren't there before then it happened after you left." Teaya obviously was no shrinking violet but the idea of someone suddenly snooping around caused her to pale.
“Well, I don’t see anyone from here.” Turning to look back to her. Of course he didn’t look anything jarred either. “We could go out and look around. See if they are still out there. You got another one of those around here?”
"I do." Walking to the bedroom hitting a panel on the bed it popped out producing the hiding spot for her other phaser.
"Here you gou honey."
“Thank you. I guess that’s a yes about checking it out. Now..how about a Tricorder?” Taking the phaser.
Going to the kitchen cabinet she produced two tricorders. "Let's go if there's nothing else."
Dean took that as well, “Nope I think that will do it.” Attaching the phaser for now. Moving to the door and opening the Tricorder. Unlocking it and stepping outside.
"Let's check the tree line there. That's the only close proximity anyone can hide beside the trail coming up from the river."
“Alright.” Switches the Tricorder to pick up residual heat signatures of footprints as well as anything touched.
Teayana set hers as well as they headed for the tree line. "I'm going to enter over there. If we come in at two points we should have a better chance. This patch is approximately 1600 meters square"
He nodded, “Yeah. Flank them.” Starting over away from her. For both of them it seemed like two sets of footprints, so were they doubling back, or different paths. Or was there more than two?
About 15 meters in there was a circular heat signature. Moving closer and inspecting, it was where someone had recently had a campfire. Teaya continued her walk towards Dean.
Sensing emotional panic, she stopped to have a closer look around her. Staying alert she continued her walk towards Dean.
Why didn’t they notice a campfire? They should have if nothing else smelled it. It was a little late now evidently. Nodding to her and motioning his head. While she continued towards him, he shifted around a little starting a half circle round abouts.
About the time Teaya reached his side two forms burst through the back side of the tree line into the prairie on the other side. She looked at him for the briefest of moments they nod in agreement and gave chase.
Of course they did. He wasn’t going to leave her out of his view but wasn’t going to slow down either to try and catch one of them. Switching to the phaser.
His longer legs afforded him a longer stride but Teaya was only a few steps behind him. And in a blink both men disappeared.
Stopping before they got to the point of beam theys stopped. "What the hell was that?" She filled her lungs with as much air as she could to calm her breathing as quickly as she could.
He cursed as well, but it certainly wasn’t even near as passive as what she said.”That, dear..obviously a beam out.” Giving a sigh..”Great, so that doesn’t help much unless they left some particulates we can find or some other evidence.”
Dean was about to say something else when there was a large, very large ‘thump’ sound off in the distance. A few moments later was the sound of what could only be an explosion and then the shockwave hitting them and the area around them. Coming from somewhere in the valley.
Immediately following the shockwave the planetary alert sounded."We have to get back to the cabin!"
“Now what!” Well he could either grab her hand and they could just run. Either way, they would get back to the cabin and inside. Hopefully battening down the hatches.
Once safe inside Teaya hit a couple of buttons on a panel behind the door.
Leaning against the wall she sagged a little letting out a sigh of relief.
“Are you okay?” Checking on her first.
"Yeah" pushing off the wall she tip toes up and gives him a quick kiss. "Nothing like a little excitement to end our vacation. I could use a beer, how about you?"
Dean checked her over quickly and returned the kiss. “Evidently, and yes. I’d also like to try to turn on the news. There’s bound to be something by now.”
Grabbing a beer for each of them, she returned handing Dean his. The screen came to life with the planetary news. "This isn't good at all. How are we to sit here and do nothing?
Shelter in place… Baah"
The beer was taken and he opened it, taking a drink, “No its not. We don’t even know who is doing this. We don’t have our ship. We can still contact someone.”
"Put a call in to Mardel." Taking a long pull of her beer. "I'm going to finish dinner. We're going to have to eat and keep our strength up."
“Well we’re not exactly starving. However, no, don’t want to risk that. Not if she’s being followed like we are. I had a different idea actually.” Taking another drink and still looking at the news feed, “We know where some of the places they were spending their time. Can see if these are random hits or specific. Even if not near our crew. Might tell us something.”
“I mean until I get a response, I can think of something we can do that we will need to eat for after. Its not like we’re going anywhere.”
Teaya blushed. "I can finish supper a little faster if you'd like to help."
If tonight was to hold any promise like the last few nights they most certainly were going to need dinner. Blushing even more at the memories. Her inner goddess did a couple of back flips in anticipation.
“Sure,” giving her a smile and moving over to her, giving her ass a playful slap. “What are we making?” It wasn’t that he was not worried about what was going on, just, there really was nothing they could do right now to help.
Giving out a small "yip" from the butt smack and a small jump. She shook her head, smiled and blushed a little deeper. "Salad is ready, you can cut up the potatoes for me, I have peas on and I need to brown the chicken cordon bleu before putting in the oven to bake. I made a cherry pie while you were gone so dessert is covered."
“Okay, well how do you want them cut?” Smiling to her and getting a cutting board out. Looking for a knife. “I could just get the phaser and put it on the lowest and thinnest setting and cut it that way.”
Laughing at the absurdity of him cutting potatoes with a phaser. "Cut them like this." Cutting them a little larger than bite size, she cut half the potato and left the other four for him to cut.
"If you take to long the rest of the dinner will be done."
“You are aware, actually I know how to cook. I thought I would see what you said about it.”
A sheepish grin she looked at him. "So I have done the cooking by myself mostly why?" A quick playful jab to his ribs with her elbow before going back to cooking the chicken.
He gave a shrug at the question, and she got another swat to the ass from the jab to his side. “Hell if I know. You like doing it?” Not even bothering to look at the potatoes as he cut them and pushed each one aside off the blade into the bowl.
Teaya was repleat from their meal as she sat back pushing around the scraps of food as she watched him finish up. "Do you want dessert now or later?"
There was a chortle given, “You really shouldn’t have asked that loaded question.”
Teaya looked at him blinking a moment. She then blushed s soft pink. "Commander I don't know what you're talking about?" She loved playing games with him and she knew he very much enjoyed the word games and banter as well.
“Uh huh...not a clue. I suppose, I can just take my dessert and go stare at the monitor then and wait for the return call.” Dean gave a little shrug.
"Okay." Was all she said before standing to clear the table. "You can go stare at the monitor, I'm going to go have mine on the couch and read." Giving a soft sigh feigning disappointment. She knew this would turn into much more. Food and all.
“As you wish.” Teaya probably wouldn’t get the reference. The smirk also hidden. The game was afoot, it had been. “Read eh though. I’m sure not one of those smutty things everyone is into.”
"If you call 1800s literature smut so be it." She pretended to be wounded as she started to walk past him with his pie towards the desk.
“Isn’t that where it started?” Raising an eyebrow to her and flicking a leg out, crooked to push her against him. Also catching the pie plate and set aside. One swoop. “Or is this where it did?”
Grabbing his shoulders to steady herself, she giggled. "I do believe it started long before then, but I most certainly like where this chapter is going."
When it came to this new found intimacy with him it was more like finding and discovering love all over again for the first time and was this what it was for him or was she just a distraction during ship leave. So many unanswered questions she was afraid to ask. Not wanting to ruin their little bubble. She was rather enjoying it. She supposed all the answers would come out once they returned back to base or the ship.
Pushing the thoughts aside she kissed his forehead and smiled at him. "So are you going to sit here or at the desk?"
She should know better than it being just a distraction by now. She should have known from the first kiss, the first real one. Not the pecks on the cheek here and there. “ Dean gave a little glance a moment and narrowed eyes. The pie was safely out of the way, so there would be the couch for both of them down on it. Flopping down and her pulled atop of him.
A giggle was all she could manage at the sudden movement. "If you didn't want "dessert" right now, why didn't you just say so." Her eyes full of desire because she knew full well what was coming and she couldn't wait.
Purposely shifting her hips against him to let him know she was more than ready. The adrenalin rush of the earlier chase and the fall out just prior to the planetary alert had her tightly wound and Dean knew just how to coax the stress away.
“I wasn’t exactly talking about that dessert, was I?” Grinning and pressing his hips back against her as well as his lips against hers. Fingers playing at the hem of her shirt. When she leaned up for him to pull it off, the fun began.
