Mission: Going Home
Location: Sickbay

Joint Duty Log: Temporal Effects (Pt2)
By Lt. Cmdr. NightWing, M.D., and Lt. Heather Argeneau, M.D.

As Heather and NightWing would return to sickbay to answer the call of Sick officers they'd find a fair few within. All of which were occupying a biobed and had a nurse scanning them to see what was wrong with them. Thankfully it didn't seem to be any more serious than dizziness or Nausea at this point. Heather reached for a hypo of Zofran.

NightWing pointed to one of the patients in there." Don't use Zofran on him, he's allergic to it. I made a note on his chart to use Phenergan compounds for his nausea because he tolerates it better."

"Understood," Heather said putting the hypo down and reaching for a fresh one to get the dose of Phenergan for Lt. Jg Derrick Yang and made her way over to his side. "We'll get you right as rain in no time Lieutenant." Heather smiled softly. Pressing the hypo to this throat giving him the necessary medicine and monitoring him to be sure that he didn't react badly to the prescribed medicine that Nightwing had said to use on him instead of the Zofran.

NightWing was busy administering hypos as well to the other patients, tending to their maladies and doing what she could to help ease their discomfort. The Diphenhydramine and Meclizine were being handed out to ease vertigo with the instructions for then to make it a light shift for the day. At least there were only about a dozen cases of both maladies in total so they weren't too strained right now.

Heather worked alongside her chief and the nurses to take care of the few cases they had. Nothing serious, nothing that would need to disrupt any of the ships day to day operations. Most of the cases were in and out with a shot to handle their discomfort.

Once the sudden influx of cases had dwindled to the usual one or two from the holodeck or the like, NightWing got out some of her favorite orange spice tea blends and offered to make Heather a cup as well. At least, that was homey enough to help ease any stress she had for the moment.

"Thank you," Heather said when a cup of tea was handed to her. The assistant moved to sit down with a tired sigh, "How do we get into these messes." She smirked.

Night Wing smiled wryly, "Just lucky, I guess. It seems like this all the time for me."

"It's just been a lot of ups and downs, I'm actually missing my family being so far away and now a hundred years in the past? seriously you don't wanna meet me today at 28 I had a chip on my shoulder and didn't like getting close to people." Heather smirked sipping her tea.

"So? there are people that love tending the cacti, even if they are prickly and they are willing to look beyond the needles to see the beauty of the flowers they will bring forth." NightWing told her philosophically. "Even then, the cacti are useful for many, many different things, especially for those that know their secrets in the near-desert areas where they live."

Heather smirked understanding exactly what NightWing was saying. "True, but I avoided most people at a young age because it was hard, very hard to make friends only to watch them die, I've seen family members suffer from it and I hadn't wanted to get close to anyone because of it. It really wasn't until I came here that I started to let myself get close. Probably why my secret wasn't hidden for long." She smirked.

NightWing smiled. "And then there were some of us that just HAD to get to the bottom of the mystery that was you. But we'll keep your secret safe."

Heather smirked, "I know, otherwise, well you know I wouldn't still be here." She smirked. "Though not everyone on the ship can know you never know when someone might try to stake me again." Heather laughed.

NightWing chuckled. "I know, and I was planning on steaking you myself... now do you prefer Sirloin Strip or Ribeye?" She had that look of pure mischief dancing in her eyes again.

Heather laughed softly, "Honestly since meeting Morgensen and all of my desires have returned, I'm partial to the Ribeye rare." She grinned.

"Alright, I'll keep that in mind," NightWing told her. "Loaded baked potatoes, broccoli cheese soup, Texas Toast, salad, Candied carrot souffle and apple dumplings for two. When would you want those for being with your honey?"

Heather laughed at that, "You are going to spoil us. but I think I could convince Morgensen to do a date night sometime soon so whenever you are able to make it all." Heather grinned.

Night Wing grinned even bigger. "Just let me know when and we'll pull that on him as a surprise."

"Sure." Heather smiled nodding her eyes dancing with mischief. "How about after we get passed this little time crisis first?" She asked with a smirk.

"That will be fine, Heather, and I still want to know what you want for the wedding reception besides the traditional cakes and punch..." NightWing told her." That will be my present to you two, doing the catering for the reception."

"th..the wedding? Oh, my mom would never forgive me if that didn't happen where she could be and she's not a fan of space. besides... Morgensen hasn't exactly popped that question." She admitted.

"Hmmmmm, it seems like he needs a little encouragement, then," NightWing teased."And I'm sure we can handle wherever your mom insists on having it due to her sensitivities."

"It's mostly a formality anyways, we're lifemates means we're meant to be someone like me we're lucky to find out lifemates, having someone we can relax around not keep our mental walls up all the time. It's a saving grace. keeps us from going rogue and surrounding ourselves with well killers." She admitted.

NightWing nodded."It was like that for my parents, but Storm Hawk refused to recognize the life bond between them and finally wound up killing them because he wanted my mother for his mate and she didn't want anything to do with him at all. Now everything has devolved onto me and Shadow since he wanted to erase every memory of her, so that also includes me and my twin brother. I know Lifebonds for Love exist, Mom and dad were the proof, but I wonder if Lifebonds for Hate also exist. It seems plausible with the way he'd kept coming after us but I still don't know and the old records say nothing of it."

"Honestly I don't know, for us lifemates are rare, but I think a love of any kind is rare," Heather said honestly frowning into her teacup.

"They are rare with my people too but love can be found in many forms." She said. "The Greeks had several kinds of love: love of the body, love of the mind, love of the soul, love of the family, and those were the main ones. They took in everything from friendship to marriage and beyond."

"I mean real love, that soul-shattering I can't live without you in my life love is rare," Heather said softly. She loved Morgensen, she wanted to be with him as often as she could she wanted him in her life and every time she thought of him she smiled and thought of every way she could make him as excited as she was to be with him.

NightWing nodded. "You feel about him the way I feel about CJ, and considering the Captain and Daniel... I'd be very surprised if the Fleet didn't start calling the Aldrin "the Love Boat" after that old video series."

Heather laughed, the love boat was one of the few songs her cousin had composed after he'd met his lifemate. Heather started to sing that song just as a gage to show she knew the words to it.

NightWing laughed and sang along with her, enjoying the time they could relax between bouts of panic.

Heather laughed as they finished singing together. "Well I don't know about you but I think I'm going to get out of here for a bit, get something to eat." She grinned finishing her tea and getting up.

"Sounds good, get a nibble on him for me too if you don't mind." She teased before heading for her office to log in all the latest happenings in Sickbay.

Heather laughed neither accepting nor denying that she might nibble her lifemate. She waved at NightWing as she left Sickbay.

NightWing waved back and started in at her computer terminal.
