Lt.Teayana Starr
and
Cmdr. Dean House

Teayana decide to wear her hair in a loose braid down her back. She then put in a small pair of platinum hoop earrings with 2 diamonds and a sapphire nested between them.
One final look in the mirror she was satisfied. Black pants and a semi sheer top with a black, blue and cream colored paisley print and a black camisole under that.
She headed out of her quarters to the promenade deck to meet with Dean for dinner. She was still surprised he asked her after all this time but she shrugged it to two-week friends having dinner.

Of course, Dean was in his uniform. He usually did. After all Teayana didn’t ask him if he’d do casual or not. Though once he got there and saw her. She was easy to pick out. There was a slight smile. Coming over to her and kissed her cheek. “You look lovely.”

A soft blush spread over her cheeks from his compliment. She never did take compliments well but accepted them all the same.

"Thank you. I'm sorry, should I have worn my uniform? You didn't say anything specific so I thought casual would be okay."

He shook his head, “No. I like that, and its just a me thing. Since neither of us specified.” Giving a motion to the bar first, “Or would you like a table up on the top level?”

"It doesn't matter to me. I'm not overly fussy, however up top would make it easier to have a conversation without having to talk over everyone else." She gave a slight shrug and left the decision up to him since it was he who had asked her out to dinner.

“Well we can do that.” Dean gave a glance to Quark and gave a motion up top for him to send someone in a few minutes so they could do their order. “That would be lovely.” Offering his arm, not his hand.

She sat as he pulled the chair for her. "Yes, I think this will be much better." She looked at the drink menu. "I think I would like a long island iced tea. What's your poison? And would you like a appetizer? They do have a pretty good spinach and artichoke dip. That is if you're that hungry and like it."

Which he did pull the chair out for her. “I will let the lady pick a drink for me, and as for appetizer, cheese sticks.”

Teaya eyed him a moment then decided on a drink and watched for his reaction when she let the waiter know she would order a whiskey sour for him. The waiter scurried off and came back quickly with their drinks and appetizers.

“Did you have any ideas about the rest of the evening other than food and talking?” Tilting his head a little curiously. Wondering if he should ask her something or not.

After taking a drink and set her glass back on the table she gave a slight shake of her head. "No, I hadn't. I'm open to just about anything. Dancing, a walk, holodeck, whatever really. Tomorrow is my day off but I still have evals to do, but Mardel said I had a month to get them all done and turned in."

Dean gave a nod in thanks to the waitress/waiter and tried the drink. It was okay, but it wasn’t alcohol. He should have specified that. “Hmm. Well why don’t we just see where the conversation goes while we have dinner. What comes up, we can run with.”

"I'm good with that." She gave him a sweet smile. "I haven't seen much of anyone since I started the evals, what have you been up to?"

“Why have you not? And I’ve just been keeping busy. Doing the whole this that same routine essentially.”

"We have a sizable crew as you know and with 30 days to get them done, I don't want to be working on them the whole time we are suppose to be on R and R. I have some plans for at least the first week of not maybe the second.
She took another sip of her drink. "Wow, they make a pretty potent Long Island." Her cheeks feeling warm from the alcohol in it.

He took another sip from the drink a little and played with it a little in his hands. “Usually. Though the Texas Tea is better.” Smiling lightly a bit. “I don’t blame you because you are suppose to have your time off, just as I am suppose to as well.”

"Absolutely. Do you have any plans or are you going to hang around head quarters?"

“I probably will just mill around to be honest. Keep busy is the plan actually.” Thanking the waitress from bringing their appetizers. Instantly going for a cheese stick.

“I'm going camping and kayaking for at least a week, maybe two depending on how much I get done before hand." She twisted her glass a little then looked up at him through her lashes.
"Would you possibly like to go?" She said with slight hesitation in her voice.

“That sounds like it could be fun. Whom else would be going?” Not that he particularly cared, just curious. Devouring another cheese stick.

"No one. I was going to go by myself. I like getting "lost" in the wilderness if you know what I mean." She popped the last bite of her cheese stick in her mouth when the waiter returned to take their order.
"I'll have the steak medium rare, baked potato and a spinach salad with warm citrus bacon dressing."

“I’m not entirely sure lost is a good idea. Apparently it is now dictated that I must go to keep you safe.” Dean waited for her to finish, then had decided on what he wanted. “I shall like Cajun chicken linguini alfredo,” Aspicy, tender chicken breast in a creamy garlic Alfredo sauce on a bed of linguini. “And..no bell peppers please, instead, ghost peppers.”

" So are you insinuating I'm incapable of taking care of myself" she said with a small laugh. "I can assure you I can, but if you would like to go and have a nice time and relax in the woods and on the water, perfect."

“You did after all say you like getting lost.” He knew what she meant by it but he still could play out along with it for now. “I mean what if you’re caught in a blizzard? Even though the ships sensors say it’s sunny and 83 degrees?”

"Well then… if there's blizzard, and you go I will have you help keep a fire going if not I guess I can do myself. I mean I have camped in the dead of winter before." She gave him a wry grin.

"However if you need to be my protector, then by all means you're welcome to come." Their dinner showed up along with another drink for the both of them. Teaya have a polite nod of thank you as the waiter backed away.

As he did, and has been doing when the Waiter/waitress had come by. “Oh so that is the only stipulation now. I can only come if I have to play protector.”

"No, of course not." She cut into her steak and took a bite. "It's highly probable your company would be enjoyable." She chuckled before having another bite of her dinner.

There was an eyebrow raised and he took the fork to cut up the large pieces of chicken and the sausage in half. Mixing all the pasta and that around. Taking a bite, then a twirl of the fork and holding it up, “Want a bite?” Which that did, and he made sure had a piece of ghost pepper on it. However also where she couldn’t see it. “Highly probable, eh?”

"Yes, highly probable." With a quick wink. "And that would be a no thank you on the bite. I heard you order ghost peppers. I would much rather enjoy my dinner and company. However if you would like the night to end early…" Teaya left it where it was with a soft smile and went back to her dinner.

“Why not?” tilting his head a little. As well as a bit of a smirk, “I made sure there wasn’t a pepper in this bite. You’d probably really like it.” Oh he sure as hell made sure that it was in there, but she didn’t know that. Dean also could play it off. He’d also made sure to check of anything she might be allergic to and peppers were not one of them. “End the night early? Why would we do that?”

Teayana looked at him la moment and gave in. "Okay, I will try it." She leaned forward to accept a bite of his dinner.

He waited a moment for that slow burn to kick in. A completely straight face. Waiting to see what she thought about the taste first, before that did kick in. “And?”

Her eyes began to water and as the burn set in she began coughing. She took a drink. "And how well did you check that for peppers?" Her nose then began to run. She took a bite of her salad because it had the small oranges in in hoping it would cool the burn. "That wasn't very good." She said as she coughed a little more.

Dean had to bite his lip but it just wasn’t going to work. He had to chortle. “I’m sorry, I’m sorry. I just..I couldn’t help it. You can get me back later and I will take it.”

Teayana shook her head. "I think it's time for me to go." Teaya laid the napkin from her lap onto the table. Thank you for inviting me to dinner." She slid her chair back and stood.

“Teayana...wait. Please?” Standing up when she did.

Turning back to look at him. Two could play his game and she was sure he was not ready for pay back so so so unlike him she kept a straight face. "Please what? As for the camping trip, I'm sorry I asked."

“Why are you sorry you asked? It was just a prank. I was trying to loosen up. I already said I was sorry, I shouldn’t have done it.”

"Playing a practical joke is one thing, torching my insides is not a practical joke and if you think it is then I will go by myself and hope I get lost" she said with a bit more disdain than she had intended. She could tell it had the reaction she wanted.

It might depend on what reaction she was wanting and what she got. That was a little, disconcerting...maybe a bit to him. However, if she wanted to play this game, he would. Which now meant sitting back down. Motioning to the other chair if she wanted to rejoin him. If she didn’t want to, or try to keep going and leave. Okay.

"As much as I’d like to stay, I need to go." At this she was very serious because her mouth was still burning. "I'm going to go get ice cream. Coming?" She waited a moment before turning.
Dean gave a little bit of a thought and well he could get what was left sent to his and her quarters. So standing up, “Sure. Actually, I heard about this spot that has these...they are kind of big ass popcicles and a mix of sno-cones as well.”

"Okay" they made their way to the ice cream shop. She ordered hers and he got his order and they left the shop. "Now where to? The arboretum?"

“I think... what about. We could go about just walking and looking at the people. See where we end up.”

"Okay" they walked and talked for long into the night not really ending up any where in particular. She gave a small yawn. "I'm getting tired, I think I need to head back to my quarters."

“Alright. I’m sorry for what I did. I’ll talk to you later then.” Dean gave her a light smile and leaned to kiss her cheek once they got to the doors to her quarters.

“Good night" she said sweetly. Tip toes up to give him a peck on his cheek.

“Sweet dreams” Giving a nod to her and waiting for her to go ahead into her quarters before he turned to head to his own.
