Mission: Refit and Restock
Teaya sat at her desk tapping her stylus. She let out a sigh. She was having to make sure everyone was sound for duty. The year long excursion had taken its toll on everyone. Her included, however she had already had her evaluation after they reached DS9 so she could perform her duties and do the crews yearly evaluations.
Lt. Sheme was first on the list and due to arrive shortly.
Lt. Flower Sheme walked into the couselor's office and ringed the chime. This wasn't going to be her first seeing a counselor. But she was glad to be back in her own time. She couldnt wait to get back to Earth to see a special Ensign Paris.
"Enter" Teaya took a sip of her tea before standing to greet the young Lieutenant to her office.(edited)
Sheme entered the office. "You wanted to see me?"
"Yes, please have a seat." Teaya made a sweeping motion with her hand toward the comfortable a seats available.
"Can I get you something to drink? Tea, coffee, water?"
"Chai tea please," Flower meowed as she sat down.
Moving to the replicator, she ordered up the chai tea for her and grabbed her mug from her desk as she joined her.
"Here you go."
Handed her mug to her as she herself sat.
"I called you in because it's time for everyone's yearly evaluation to ensure you're mental fit for duty."
Flower held the mug, "Okay."
"How are you doing? How has the past year been. We missed out on our six month eval and you haven't been in to see me for anything.
Is there anything we need to discuss in particular?"
"Nothing I can think of," she took a sip of her tea. "I do miss my boyfriend, and of coursewhen I heard about the Synhion attacked the post where my older sister and her family is posted... I might have taken out my anger on Lt. Danvers.."
The counselor made notes on her PADD and nodded as she spoke. These were all "normal" reactions however there was no way someone who was on this last mission didn't have some kind of mental scarring. Even she herself still had a few things to work through regardless of her chosen job as counselor.
No one would be unaffected especially being stuck in the past. Some were not even born yet.
Teaya sighed softly.
"Sheme I'm talking mission wise and how it has affected you. I'm sure your personal life has a part in it but I'm talking about the impact of the missions."
Flower looks down. 100 years in the past...."right sorry..."
"it wasnt easy feeling... that if we were stuck... I would have bever been born..."
"Would you care to elaborate? I can't pull your thoughts Lieutenant. I'm an empath, not a psychic."(edited)
Flower walked over to the window,"I was scared, but I did my duty," she said as she looked at the stars.
"What about the pocket universe?"
"We lost a good officer... I..."
"You what?
Teaya have an inward sigh.
"Lieutenant I think that will do for now. I will send your evaluation.
Thank you for your time." Teaya stood and walked to her desk and set the PADD down.
"If you want to talk more before we get back to Earth, my door is open."
"I am not fit am I?"
"I am not saying that, however you seem to obviously be struggling emotionally and mentally. You will have to be the one to talk for me to be able to help you and obviously you're having a hard time opening up."
Teaya finished her tea.
"I know I'm not everyone's favorite person to talk to but I'm not the enemy here and I'm only trying to help. The rest is your choice." She moved behind her desk and sat down.
"I know you arent!" Flower sat back down, "I just have a difficult time opening abuot my feelings. But I will try to"
"Then please by all means continue. Can I get you anything to make you more comfortable?"
Flower shook her head, "No. I didnt know Ivy, but it was still hard to accept. I have lost a couple of crew mates over the year.... One was my former roommate."
" And how have you been coping with these loses? Are you doing yoga, meditation or anything like that?"
"I climb trees to try and clear my head. I worked out with the Captain and survived."
"That's a start. But what are you doing to emotionally deal? The physical helps but we all still need to talk through emotions. Since you haven't been in to see me, are you talking to anyone else?"
"I have talked with Commander House Lt. Danvers, and Captain Connor," she responded.
"And these conversations have helped you?"
"They do sometimes. Then there are times where talking about emotions are harder to talk about." Flower sipped some more tea.
"Yes, emotions can be hard to deal with and talk about, however it's a necessary. It's like checks and balances. If you don't keep checks and balances then everything goes hay wire. Does that make sense for you?"
Flower shook her head.
"I dont understand."
"Do you understand sort of how the core works?"
"I am no Tinker, so that would be a no, Lt."
Okay, let's try this... All plants need some sort of moisture to exist. Without it, it dies. So if we keep plants in our quarters we have to water them. But you have to keep a balance because to much water or not enough the plant dies." Letting out a long, low sigh she continued.
"Does that make more sense for you?"
"That I do understand. so emotions are like plants, and to water them we ave to talk about them." Flower explained.
Yes! Teaya though to herself.
"You don't want to leave your emotions to bottle up, otherwise you become unbalanced making it harder to cope with minor everyday stressors.
Now that you understand the importance, I do hope you will be in to see me when you start feeling overwhelmed and the workouts aren't helping you to cope. That is what I'm here for."
Flower purred, "okay."
"Okay, then you are dismissed and I hope to see you soon."
"Thank you for seeing me," she purred and stood up to put the mug in the recycler.
Teayana looked back over her notes after Sheme had left her office. She was putting in the following recommendations...
Lieutenant Sheme would be able to continue her duties however I am putting in the following recommendation: She needs follow up counseling until she understands and has full grasp of the importance of not only her physical health which she seems to have a grasp on but the balance of physical and mental go hand in hand and she doesn't have a full grasp. She was resistant in answering questions until I told her she could go. I should not have to push patients to that point.
Lt. Sheme is to see me once a week for the next six weeks. I will then give further evaluation.
