Crew,

A strange signal has reached Starfleet Command from a rather unusual source. They have ordered us to look into it and report back. The signal appears to come from technology used almost a hundred years ago and it appears to be Starfleet tech, but no report of anything there was logged. There was reported a planet there that two hundred years ago a Starfleet ship went to for resupply and left behind a book that those living there took to be how we lived and adopted it. Then there is a record of the Enterprise under command of James T. Kirk went there and found a society based on that novel, but tagged it as not anywhere near ready for first contact. The few ships that have gone near that sector looking for signs of warp haven't found any. But now we have this signal.

It will be our job to discover the origin of this signal and check on this world and see what has become of it. We have been granted permission if needed to go to the surface and make contact with the people if necessary to discover this anomaly. So we are to set course to Sigma Iotia II and find out what we can discover. Good luck to us all.
