Mission:
Going Home
Location: Mess Hall
Erik sat at a table in the mess. He had some time before his shift was due to start. After being relieved on the Alpha shift, he headed back to his cabin to get some sleep. 6 hours later, he woke up, dressed and headed to the gym for some exercise. After showering, he headed for the officers mess for something to eat. While he was eating, he was reviewing duty orders on a PADD.
Amri sat her plate down next to Erik, "I believe I recognize you from the Operations course at the Academy." She smiled.
He looked up at her. "Ensign Vaughn. You believe we were at the Academy together? Been a couple of years and there were so many faces." He tried remembering his time at the academy. "Please, join me."
She gave a nod, "I sat down next to you in class and we were paired to do a couple of projects..." She sighed, "I was going through a break-up and you were there for me when I needed it." She gave a small smile, "I never had the courage or chance to thank you. You may call me Amri by the way."
He snapped his fingers. "Now I remember you! You were going out with....what's his name......Larry?"
She gave a nod, "Yes. However, it didn't work out. He was more into an Orion girl that was 'hot under fire'..." She decided not to go into the dishonesty of Larry. "I'm glad though, because I learned a bit about myself and trust."
She handed him a strawberry, "What about you?"
He tool the strawberry. "You know I did warn you about him, he was too full of himself." He took a bite of the strawberry. "I'm glad you were able to put it behind you."
"Me?" He looked at her. "I had my share of wins and loses...they all seemed to balance out."
She giggled, "That you did. Well, I'm available now... Just maybe..." She winked a little bit, "the right one will ask me." She offered him some more, "I just wanted to at least thank you." She was happy that she did, then she took a sip of her drink. "I'm glad we're assigned here, besides I did think about what you said when he left and I realized that it was him and not me. You were and are a wise one, despite we're close in age." She laughed a little on that, "It's crazy."
Erik nibbled on the strawberries as he looked at her. He thought she was sending out signals. "There's a movie tonight, in the arboretum...if your interested....would you like to go...with me?'
She looked a little surprised, but smiled. "I would like to go with you." She sipped another of her drink, "Do you know what the movie is called?"
"It's suppose to be a comedy..the movie is titled 'Young Frankenstein'. It starts at 2000 hours." Erik was nervous now.
She giggled with a smile, "I still would like to see that with you. See you then?" She just finished her drink and she left the last strawberry for him.
"See you then." Erik watched her get up and leave.
Right before she left, she gave him a peck on the cheek, "Thank you." She smiled again as she gathered her items. "Meet here?"
"Meet you here."
