“Enter Casius”

A Joint Personal Log Between Lt. Flowerpetal and Ensign B’Raitha

B'Raitha woke early the next morning. He glanced at the still-sleeping Flower and his tail looped easily.
The Caitian carefully slipped out of the bed. He padded out to the living room, not worrying about any clothing, and sat down at his computer terminal. He still had the day off, but wanted to check on messages, just in case they had wanted him to be on the guard detail for Cassius. Part of him was glad that there were no new messages, and a part of him was disappointed. At any rate, he would be able to go with Flowerpetal and greet her father.

Flower turned over and woke up slowly, getting a faint scent that her beloved was not in bed anymore. As she sat up, she let out a yawn, and slipped out of bed, and walked into the living room, "Morning Love.”

B'Raitha moved from the living room into the small kitchen. He pulled out some fresh eggs and placed them on the stove. He pulled out a pan and prepped t.

Flower followed him and gently entwined their tails "Last night was so perfect. Dinner was perfect."

B'Raitha allowed his tail to be entwined, the very tip of it swirling to show his pleasure. He turned his head toward Flower and nuzzled her gently. "It really was purr-fect," he said to her in a soft tone.

"What do you have planned for today? I have an entire month with no plans," Flower purred and licked his head affectionately.

"Meeting your father," B'Raitha told her as he broke eggs into a bowl. "His transport come in, in three hours."

"Are you nervous?" she asked as she got some milk in cupbowls.

"Very," B’Raitha admitted as he added some pieces of ham into the egg mix.

"I guess that is natural. But he’s making the effort to leave planet to visit Earth," Flower pointed out.

"Is that supposed to put me at ease," he asked, pouring the mixture into the heated pan. "He's not only the leader of a planet, but he's YOUR father."

"It was an attempt to put you at ease, guess it failed." Flower felt her nose get bright again.

"Yes, my love, it did," the Caitian said lightly. He stirred the egg and ham mixture in the heated pan. "But I definitely love that you tried."

"Do you have a shift today? If you do I can greet my father myself," she asked as she sat down at the table.

B'Raitha took the pan off the heat and put plates on the table for them. He set out the utensils and then doled out the eggs and ham. "No. I am off today. I can go with you to meet your father.." He set a pot of brewed coffee on the table as well.

Flower wrinkled her nose at the smell off coffee, "Awesome! I already set out some milk in the cupbowls."

B'Raitha poured them both some coffee, then sat down. "I'm still not sure what to wear, though. Should I wear my dress uniform? I'm not on duty, but, I am still a member of Starfleet."

"I was going to wear something casual, but you do have a point, we should represent Starfleet even when we are on leave," Flower picked up the milk, passing up the coffee, "I really don’t like coffee."

B'Raitha carefully lapped at the hot brew, then nodded. "You're right, as usual,... Sir." His tail looped.

"Stop teasing me! You are still an officer," Flower purred as she started on the eggs.

Two hours later, the two walked into the Paris spaceport. They went directly to the terminal where Cassius' shuttle was due to land. As expected, there was numerous Starfleet security officers there, as well as official Catonian Guard officers from the embassy. The CG officers bowed the moment they saw Flower.

"Hello Catonian Guard," Flower's tail looped, and waited to see her father step out, nervous a little to finally introduce her father to her love.

"It is pleasurable to see you again, Your Highness," the leader of the Guard said to her. "Come this way." He led Flower and B'Raitha through a crowd of onlookers to the official greeting line for the Catonian leader. B'Raitha noted the looks from several of he fellow security officers as the strode past them.

"Why did you refer to be as Your Highness? You know that I rather not be called that, Sharpclaw." Flower jibed at the leader.

"And you know I am obliged to call you that none-the-less," the Guard leader replied easily, "lest your father have my job."

"So my father commanded this?" she asked.*

The Guard did not answer her. He simply saw them to their place in the line and then backed away, moving to a spot where he could best view his leader's departure from the shuttle and all the people around them.

The hatch for the shuttle slid open and several more of the Catonian Guard stepped out, surveying the scene. They moved down he ramp and clear of the reception line. Finally Casius, the Catonian leader emerged. He looked down the line of officials, greeting each one with a nod, before even stepping off the ramp.

His eyes fell upon Flower, and widened. He went directly past the other dignitaries, who looked on in confusion until they saw who the Catonian leader was walking toward.

Flower bowed her head to her father, "Welcome to Earth Father."

"MY Flowerpetal," Casius said, taking her paws into his and entwining his tail around his daughter's. "I am both surprised and grateful to see you here. They had said your ship was unreachable."

Flower looked down, "yes Father... I am forbidden to go into details why, as Starfleet has commanded it classified,"

"I understand, Flowerpetal," Casius assured her, but to himself he vowed to find some answers. H nuzzled her. "It is still so wonderful to see you. I swear, you and your sister will be the death of me someday."

"Why did you command the Guard to call me Your Highness? You know I don’t like to be referred to as that," Flower purred amused.

"And you know I didn't want you to go into Starfleet," Casius shot back, but eh humor was easily seen in his eyes. "So, I suppose we're even."

"I left to find my paws. I know... we are your kittens, but we have grown." Flower removed one of her paws from his paws and around B’Raitha, "Speaking of Starfleet, may I introduce Ensign B’Raitha, of Starfleet."

Casius' softened features immediately hardened as he looked at B'Raitha. He didn't need an introduction. "So you are the Caitian that has designs on my daughter?"

Inwardly, B’Raitha stomach was doing flips. Outwardly, however, he held himself proud. He wasn't sure he would find his voice, and then worried what it would sound like when he spoke, but he acknowledged the Catonian leader with a clear, determined voice. "I am, Sir. Ensign B'Raitha of Cait."

Casius studied him for a long moment, more to intimidate the Caitian than anything else. "We shall see," he said tersely, then turned back to Flower. "We must get together, at the embassy, Flowerpetal. I have to go and be diplomatic right now."

"Okay father. I will see you there," Flower nodded, and looked to her love, "We will be there."

"I look forward to it," Casius said lovingly to his daughter, then turned his head toward B'Raitha and said in a harder tone, "Both of you." To his credit, B'Raitha remained stoic. The Catonian leader went back to greet the Federation dignitaries whom had come to greet him.

"That went... well?" B’Raitha commented.

Flower felt her breath ease, "I thought it did. He looked at me as if I was a kitten again. When we talked yesterday, you looked at me as if you were seeing a ghost. "

"You will have to accept that when your ship goes M.I.A, Flowerpetal," B'Raitha told her. He then entwined his tail around hers.

Flower felt her nose turn bright again, "I guess so. It is the risk we both accepted when we became officers.

"You know it," B'Raitha agreed. He nudged her with his paw. "Let's go and get out of these monkey suits."

Flower purred and turned away from the other dignitaries, "Please don’t go around calling me Your Highness, as you know I am not a princess of my planet.*

"Is that an order, Sir?" B'Raitha teased, emphasizing the word, "sir." They walked away from the space port.

"And what have I asked about that?" Flower licked his head.
