Captain's Log: Personal: Stardate: 0723.22

Mardel sat in her ready room, alone. Outside the doors stood the Starfleet Security to make sure she didn't do anything she wasn't supposed to. Which meant she could do nothing with the stack of paperwork she needed to get caught up on and she couldn't do anything official until her status was established. The last thing she had been able to do, officially, was to grant her crew two weeks shore leave and make sure that if something happened to her, Captain House would get the Aldrin.

She thought about her ship, the Aldrin, and smiled. It was home to her and she loved every single feature it had, from the hot springs to the bazaar to the waterfall and lake in the main arboretum. She loved the different crew lounges and how they each had their own theme. She normally only visited the Salty Whistle or the Starlight Lounge, but she had been meaning to check out Jose's Salsa Tango. It was a Latin inspired lounge that had the reputation of having 200 different salsas to go with their food and they ranged in heat levels from no burn to Quantum burn. She wasn't sure exactly what that meant, but many who tried the hotter levels often ended up in sickbay needing something for the burn that burned once going in and twice coming out. The random thought that House probably lived in Jose's hit her as funny. Then of course was the Tanka Junk is a crew lounge that specialized in Oriental foods, everything from chow mien to pad Thai and orange chicken to Mongolian beef, and of course a million different ways to do noodles. She had often wanted to go and try some of their stir fries, she heard they were really good. So was the Mongolian beef and noodles, but she was warned that was a very spicy dish and almost as bad as some of the salsas from Jose's.

Well, all that would have to wait until after the hearing to determine if a trial was needed or not. She really hoped that a trial wouldn't be needed, but you never knew with which Admiral was sitting on the hearing board would decide. One more day until that hearing. So much for a speedy hearing. At least she had gotten word that Daniel and the others had made it to Betazed and were having the time of their lives. The twins love playing with their grandparents and Daniel's parents are loving spoiling the twins. She might have to add more room to our quarters to put all the gifts they have been getting.

The twins...they were growing so fast, already a year and half. They had her green skin, but their dad's hair and eye color. Their features were a good blend of her and Daniel and she had made sure that they had their beads, it was an important part of being Orion, even if you were only half Orion, you still needed your beads. They will be starting pre-school soon, but she was already teaching them in the Orion tradition and Daniel was teaching them in the Betazoid traditions. It was strange, they were showing signs of have telepathy and empathy, like the Betazoids, but only in sending, like the Orions, their minds are psi-dense and anyone trying to get in gets burned out. Orions are normally psi-null, but in this case, it looks like that might be the exception.

Mardel sighed and moved to her couch and decided, now was a good time to catch up on some sleep, so she took a nap.
