Sim Summaries:

USS Aldrin
We were finally able to solve the problem with Starbase 395 and it turns out to have been a naughty child of a race that wouldn’t name itself but referred to the Q as naughty children who have yet to grow up. Kinda makes us a little worried, but everyone was returned, as well as all the items taken.
We are currently helping the Starbase get put back together as some of the items taken were essential in some of the systems that kept the Starbase viable. And many of the starbases engineers were helping the ships dock there that were affected do repairs so they are able to get on their way.
When we have helped them, we will begin our patrol of the nearby sectors around Starbase 395. What fun we have to look forward to. Maybe another encounter with the Tamarians.

USS Columbia:
After entering a temporal anomaly to respond to Lola being pulled in, along with the U.S.S Apollo, one of the latest arrivals has drawn quite a bit of attention. A Borg cube, apparently run by alien artificial constructs. The Columbia is currently trying to repair the cube in order to see if they can learn anything about this anomaly, or how the cube got here.
Submitted by Commander Waters

USS Excelsior:
The Excelsior had responded far out in the Beta Quadrant, at the request of Starfleet Command. They, to their horror, found a disable Borg cube, adrift in space. Further investigation found the cube's entire complement of drones, all drained of life. a deeper sensor probe, of the area, found a Borg scout-sphere, attacking an Enclave ship. The sphere, after destroying the egg-ship, disappeared. As the XL continued looking for it, they were attacked, as the sphere ship reappeared. A being transported onto the XL, and abducted one of the civilian passengers, Larie Grimes. Once data records from the borg cube Were reassembled, an image of a man, looking like Lt. Sherlock Grimes, was observed attacking and seeming to suck the very life from the drones. Now, the XL must pursue the scout sphere ship, back to Federation space.
Submitted by Commodore Michael Holden

USS Hermes:
The Hermes is currently investigating a series of attacks on Federation outposts after receiving a distress signal from the USS Marauder(a Sovereign Class vessel). She received a surprise attack after she was the original ship leading the investigation. The Marauder successfully fended off the attack but was left unable to move and had barely any defenses left. We were able to meet with the Marauder and aid her in repairs to get her underway. After getting her back online we escorted her back to Starbase 44. While underway we were attacked by the same group that had ambushed the Marauder before. They seem to use cloaking technology with energy signatures similar to Romulan technology, but seem to have no affiliation with anyone known to the Federation. They are currently considered a unknown pirate organization. The Hermes and Marauder managed to shake them and get the Marauder in for repairs. The investigation is moving forward, but the groups real intentions are still yet to be discovered.

Captain James Kirk Jr.
Commanding Officer
USS Hermes
NCC-4501-G

USS Independence:

The Independence, while docked at Far Reach Station in the Delta quadrant, had been asked to assist with a possible glitch in their systems. Apparently, random mishaps were occurring with the starbase's systems. As the investigation began, the Indy, itself, started to experience system mishaps. Then, the starship, on its own, detached from the space dock, and went to maximum warp, headed for the far reaches of the Delta Quadrant. Attempts by the crew, to manually retake control of the ship, all failed. Telepaths, aboard, employed their special abilities, and could find "traces" of an foreign intelligence, in control, but it would not respond to their telepathic queries, and it was difficult to lock down a specific location of the intelligence. The crew, then, pulled out whatever stops they could, to prevent the intelligence from accessing the slip-stream drive.

Respectfully submitted,
Commander Travis Cloud
Executive officer

USS Odyssey:
The USS Odyssey was dispatched to the Planet Vile I to populate the planet with flora and fauna. However, when it arrived, the found a planet covered with nodules interconnected with tendrils. A shuttle was dispatched to survey the planet. When the shuttle neared the planet, one of the nodules detached from the network and extended it's tendrils toward the shuttle, eventually capturing the shuttle.

While trying to break free from the tendrils, the crew of the Odyssey determined that they were dealing with a sentient life form, consisting of the layers of nodules interconnected with the tendrils. Attempts to communicate with the being failed until the crew determined that the being, having no sight, communicated via secreting liquids and "tasting" the crewmembers. It was then they discovered that the being thought the shuttle was part of the main being that had been severed from the main part and had no method of nourishment.

After some time, a method was developed to be able to communicate with the being via the hull. Then the being informed the crew that there was a ship, similar to the shuttle, in the liquid portion of the planet, and the being had formed a pseudo-cryogenic coating around the ship to sustain the life forms inside.

USS Penumbra:

The *Penumbra* has been "escorted" to the edge of Kinshayan space by the Kinshayan Bishop Yazgrom aboard his sphere-ship, the *Yeffre*. While we've left Kinshayan space, we don't feel our mission was accomplished. We were sent to investigate rumors of the Holy Order of Kinshaya meddling in the Klingon-Gorn war, and whether that might lead to the Typhon Pact becoming more involved in galactic politics. While the Kinshayans assured us they had no interest in the "Demons" of the Klingons, nor the "primitive" Gorn, and blamed the rumors we'd heard on a small extremist group called the Purity Faction, we have a hard time believing self-styled "purists" would be involved in such things. But, how to investigate further hasn't been decided.

And, Bishop Yazgrom has asked to beam over to the *Penumbra* claiming to want to give Cdre. Zak Taylor a "gift". Both the Commodore and Col. Travis Patterson suspect something, since a gift could have been beamed over by itself without needing the Bishop to deliver it. Zak thinks maybe the Bishop wants to get off his ship and talk to them in private without risking being overheard by his own people. He's having him beamed to the Observation Lounge with a couple Security guards.

Also, after having the whole ship on the planet of Tepesi 2, and having squads of Marines and Seabees doing demolitions of heavily damaged buildings from the bombing attack at the space port, we now have no less than nine crewmembers (mostly Marines) presenting in the Wellness Center with respiratory distress. Cpl. Homer Kyle's sputum sample actually has tiny micro-machines in the phlegm from inside his lungs! What's up with that? And now, our beloved Assistant Chief Medical Officer, LtCmdr. Katarina Hawke, has collapsed from coughing as well! The EMH was activated to assist Cmdr. Adonudo T'lanuwa with the situation.

USS Roddenberry:

~/~ Last time on the Roddenberry ~/~
A Distress call from an unknown source causes the Roddenberry to detour from their current destination of Earth to an asteroid field just inside the delta quadrant. Captain Phoenix gives a call to Captain Janseen of the USS Sutherland, which is the Academy summer cruise ship—thinking that this might be a good learning experience for the cadets on first contact situations.

When the two ships arrive they hail the civilization that has called the asteroid field home learning that the people asking for help are the Tal'Ra, and the lost people of one of the Academy's cadets. While in commmunication the power that holds the asteroid field in rotation flickered allowing a few of the smaller asteroids to float out of rotation heading towards the two ships before being pulled back as power comes back on. However, two of the larger astroids collide together showing the two ships what the actual danger was. If power gives out the asteroids will go flying off and turn into comets to hit other planets, but in the process the Tal'Raian's will be destroyed once and for all.

Can the two ships work together to help this civilization?

Let's find out next time on either the Academy or the Roddenberry sims.

Starbase Everest:
Everest started experiencing minor power fluctuations. When the first engineering officer, went to investigate, she found wiring chewed up, but no evidence of the culprit. As she was investigating further, she was attacked, and left unconscious, in the corridor. A second engineer, investigating another power issue, found tiny green bugs, which scattered, once discovered. They left behind fluorescent tracks, which the engineer tracked to the next level up, where even the tracks mysteriously disappeared.

Starfleet Academy:
It is once again time for Graduation ceremonies. Academy Class of 2400 have been given assignments and sent on their way as newly minted Ensigns. Interestingly, 4th year Cadet Gibbs has decided to change his study focus and is now enrolled in the academy classes for Engineering extending his studies for another two years.
The Summer Cruise has begun, their first stop to a newly accepted member of the Federations, Querex III went very well. Even if certain members of their government seemed to have an undue interest in some of the more senior crew, the diplomatic ‘meet-n-greet’ seemed to go off very well. However it was cut short by a request from another Federation Vessel.

The Sutherland answered the call to assist the USS Roddenberry in their answer to a distress call. In a strange twist of fate, it would seem that the request originated with someone one of the cadets were quite familiar with. Cadet Voss’ long lost family, one he had assumed had perished a long time ago, is now seeking help.

The Academy Cadets, leading the cruise with guidance of instructors, will be working with the USS Roddenberry to find a safe solution for the Ships now in a dangerous situation as the Asteroid system and the power of their ships seems to be linked.

Join the Cadets on their journeys!

Advice from Admiral Killian Sylver:
Emergency Drills
Not enough ships and stations do the proper amount of emergency drills. Thus when a true emergency happens, everyone is wondering where they are supposed to be and what they are supposed to do. So here is the list of who is to do what in case of that red alert going off.

ALL Starfleet Personnel with the exception of Security needs to report instantly to their duty posts and yes, this includes all shifts and all positions. The bridge crews that are extra are to be on the edge of the bridge ready to step in if something happens to the person who is normally in that position when the red alert sounds.

Security personnel are supposed to be dealing with the civilians to get to where they need to be and then should the abandoned ship sound, help make sure that none of the escape pods are launched empty or half full.

Civilians need to get to the life support areas should life support be cut or go down as these areas have their own independent life support systems. Those areas are: All the lounges, sickbay, and if the ship has a dedicated deck to shops and support of the crew, that deck. Personal Quarters are not considered safe during a red alert unless they have been especially altered to be so. And as the majority of the escape pods are near these areas of independent life support, it is easy to make sure the civilians get off the ship first.

Drills in these procedures should be done on an irregular regular schedule so that everyone on the ship is aware of what they are to do during an emergency to cut down on unnecessary chaos during an already stressful time. I am urging all Captains and Commanders to implement this so that we don’t have ships with all hands lost and no one to speak for what did happen.

Lieutenant Commander Toulaine
USS Roddenberry

Toulaine bent over the scope and looked at the slides. She kept going from the different slides and asking the computer to compare them to anything known in the Federation. So far, nothing was adding up. She added the information she gathered on the planet to see if it was a local compound.
She had been able to narrow down the sleeping agent to one of three possible, one from the planet, one from Romulus, and one from the Jem’Hadar. All of them appeared to be fast acting and touch activated. None of them were fatal and none caused hallucinations.
There was also the hallucinogenic agent that she hadn’t been able to figure out yet. The major problem was, this one seemed to be controlled by electronic signals. From
the reports from the nurses, Muffy was definitely dreaming, even in cryostasis. She had no idea what Muffy was dreaming, but from the expressions, she wasn’t happy and it wasn’t good dreams.
However, until she could find the agent and a way to counter it, she had to leave Muffy in cryostasis. She also didn’t know how long she had before it did become fatal. But she did have a good idea that the men on that planet were counting on Muffy wanting to join them willingly. She mentally laughed at that thought. Muffy would never want to go back to that planet unless it was to kill those men who tried to grab her.
Then something caught her eye and she looked at the slide closer and started cursing in several different languages. She had to let the captain know about this. The toxin used was outlawed in the Federation and with its allies. That planet was using mind control and right now, Muffy was wide open to that mind control, no matter what she was dreaming. That was just opening her up.
At least Toulaine now knew what she was dealing with. Now was the challenge to find the counter to this substance. So far, there was no known counter, but Toulaine wasn’t going to give up, she was going to do whatever it took to get that out of Muffy’s system and allow her mind to one again be closed to mind control.

Doctor “Bones” Harris
West Side Story- Part 1
(Takes place immediately following the last sim)
The gum-chewing young receptionist said, "Well Dr. Hanson is out, but probably. As you know, there are 5 escapees: 2 women and 3 men. One lady was in her fifties though, so this could be her."
Bones yanked her arms out of the officer's grasp. "Excuse me, are you even listening to me? I'm Dr. Harris from the USS Excelsior, and I demand a comm port so we can sort this all out. You guys are going to be in big troub...FIFTIES?? I'll have you know that I'm only 48!"
The cops each re-grabbed an arm, "Ok, that is enough out of you DOCTOR."
Mandy, the young receptionist said, "well we can put her in holding area 2. It's where patients get processed and evaluated and treated before they get admitted...it's the best I can do since I don't know who she is or which room was hers...but she has no clothes on. I'll need to go get her a gown."
Bones was enraged, "You guys WILL stop talking about me like I'm not even here! And I'm not from any room! I am from the USS Excelsior!"
Cop one looked at Mandy, "yeah, we picked her up at the crazy nude beach...she was trying to heal an old guy with some doohickeys that looks like they were scrap metal. She says she is from a Starship but she keeps calling herself Dr. Harris. We knew one of your escapees did so by impersonating Dr. Hanson so...pretty sure this gal is involved."
The Chief Medical Officer of the Starship was absolutely flabbergasted that this was actually happening, and she said so, "This....wait a minute, this is a joke right? Did Crazy Louie Gambino put you up to this? He swore he would get me- this is him, right? Tell me this is his doing."
Cop 2 retorted, "we don't know crazy Louie...is that one of the other escapees? If you tell us where they are, I'm sure everyone would go real easy on you."
Mandy perked up at that, if she could find the escapees before Dr. Hanson got back from his long weekend, that would really put a feather in her cap for a promotion. The escapees had gotten out 2 weeks ago and Dr. Hanson was going to cancel his vacation; but ultimately decided to go since there was nothing else he could do at the moment anyway since the authorities were working on it.
"Yeah miss, if you help us find the rest of your gang, I can promise you that you will get extra pudding!"
Harris' eyes went wide and she was fuming, "pudding?? I don't want any damn pudding! What I want...no what I demand is a call!"
Mandy stepped back from the irate doctor and looked at the cops. "Stay here. I'll get our tech and a gown, and we will head to holding room 2."
For the next 5 minutes while Mandy was gone, Bones tried tactics from unadulterated rage to sickly-sweet compliments to bribery to get the cops to release her...all to no avail. Mandy came back with a gown which she handed to Bones. "Here you go, sweetie, put this on."
Bones looked at it. It was embroidered with: "Patient, Shellia Psychiatric Care Facility." Bones shook her head. "I'm not putting that on. No way."
Cop 2 looked at her and crossed his arms, "would you rather be naked?"
Bones scowled and yanked her arms out of their grasp once again and put on the gown, "Fine, dammit, but I still demand that call!"
5 more minutes passed as cop 1 and Mandy filled out some forms on the computer while Bones argued with cop 2.
Finally, Mandy looked up, "oh good, here comes Lenny with the wheel-chair."
Bones turned around to see an orderly of some sort coming their way pushing a chair.
The doctor's eyebrows flew into her hairline and she whirled back to Mandy. "Young lady, listen to me, this is the height of lunacy, I demand that you call my starship! I'm not going anywhere and even if I was, I certainly wouldn't be going in a wheelchair!"
Mandy kept the irate woman's attention on her; and Bones heard one of the cops say to Lenny, "funny, she likes to play with hypodermic needles too."
The CMO was about to turn around and question that, but all that came out of her mouth was a yelp as she felt the unmistakeable sting and rush of an old fashioned hypodermic needle going into the back of her upper arm. Bones' eyes got wide and she pushed back off of the admission counter, giving all 4 of them what she hoped was the deadliest glare ever. She stumbled backwards into the waiting wheelchair; and realized that despite her earlier protests- wherever she was going, she was indeed getting there via wheelchair. She thought to herself tiredly as she was wheeled away by Lenny: Bones, you have done it again...sure hope the Excelsior is close by and looking because I effing hate Risa!

Cpt. Dean House & Lt. Cmdr. Teaya House

When they appeared on the starbase, Teaya stayed rather close to Dean as she looked around quickly and began opening herself to what was transpiring that they couldn't see. She didn't feel exactly safe but being close to Dean made her feel a little safer.
Dean had finished splitting up the teams, most of them. Leaving the department heads to do the rest for now. Which was just two group pretty much. Looking to Teaya after around again. “Well it’s quiet.”
"Yes, almost too quiet. I don't like it one bit." She reached for his hand. Even through the EVA suit she found comfort. "Everything okay with you? You have been what appears a little more overly watchful lately."
“You hadn’t been feeling okay lately is all,” taking her hand fully. “Switching active scan on the suits tricorder.”
"True." She was quiet for a moment. "I'm pregnant." Looking up to her husband's face to gage his reaction as they slowly walked and scanned.
There was silence for a long moment, and she couldn’t see the smile at first, “I was wondering if that’s what it was. Was kind of leaning that way.” Now looking to her so she could see.
"I'm due in about six months…". Waiting a moment and taking a deep breath before continuing. "It's twins." She smiled as she said it out loud. It was a relief to have been able to finally tell him. The timing kind of stunk but they really had not had much time to really talk.
“Twins? Really!?” still smiling, maybe more so now. Stopping long enough to bear hug her, regardless of the suits. “That’s wonderful.”
. "You trying to kill me silly? Wonderful says the man who doesn't have to carry the load." Giggling she gave him a slight nudge.
Dean booped where it would have been her nose if not for the face shield. “That’s true..at least in a few aspects.”
"It would be nice to be able to go home to have the babies. I wonder if we will be in position for that to happen when the time comes?" Teaya stopped as an odd sensation overtook her, almost as if it wanted to reach out and be discovered. "Dean, whatever is doing this is child-like. Almost as if it doesn't know any better. Almost like Apollo and him making his discoveries and being curious about his/its surroundings."
“We have time build up. I don’t see why we can’t work out a time to use it.” Stopping when she did to give a look to her, then to the HUD. “I’m not reading anything, at least not right now. Like a child you say..that’s either going to need acting like a stern parent or trying to drop down to that same level with it.”
"Yes" she nodded. "We are going to have to be careful how we handle this. You better alert the others to be cautious. It doesn't feel malicious but it could get bad if we handle this wrong and it throws a tantrum it may get nasty. We have to handle with kid gloves, there are people's lives at stake.

Lieutenant Muffy Harrington
USS Roddenberry

Muffy couldn’t believe it. That jerk who had ignored her had tried to kidnap her. Thank goodness Jericho was there and punched him in the face. She hoped that Jericho broke the jerk’s nose.
Then she was on the ship and she tried to complain about him grabbing her and then everything went black.
A myriad of colors started to show against her eyelids and she had no idea what was going on but she felt both cold and burning hot at the same time. He had touched her for a brief moment but that seemed long enough to be claimed by that planet. She didn’t like that at all.
Then the colors cleared up and she started dreaming of living on that stupid planet. Of riding horses, having children, a lot of children with a lot of different men. She started to feel like a prime bitch or filly, being bred as needed. Then she saw herself commanding servants to do the chores for her so she could stay young and healthy and have more children.
She saw a giant house filled with rooms and each room held two children and the house was bursting at the seams with children. She started to see the parade of handsome men all wanting her, making her feel like a queen, paying court to her. They made themselves look as sexy and hot as possible, encouraging her to touch them to allow them to touch her.
She hated these dreams and fought against them. She pictured herself on her farm, dealing with the animals and picking the ripe food and canning them or using them to cook, or leaving some at the doors of those she knew would enjoy the fresh produce;
In her mind, Muffy could hear the acid in Touiane’s voice and focused on that. As long as she thought about Toulaine the other thoughts couldn’t get to her. She laughed and focused on Toulaine. She wondered how Toulaine would feel about that, but she hoped the medical officer would understand.
There was no way knowing how long this was going to last and she was sick and tired of those stupid men kissing her toes. She hated having her toes kissed. I mean really, why kiss toes? They are nasty. Eww…is that guy dipping her toes in chocolate before sucking on them. Oh gods stop this ride, she wanted off.
Toulaine, what is taking you so long in figuring this out. Help me. Get me out of this hell. I will not let someone dip my toes in chocolate and suck them clean. Ewwww.

Cmdr Sineade Darnell

“Am I losing my sight or my mind?” Cmdr Darnell said as she walked towards the door to the office.
Things were definitely not quite right!
Sineade looked up at the top of the warp core, or what should have been. Frowning as she moved closer to inspect the area. He mind was having a hard time processing what she was actually seeing, or rather NOT seeing. An area at the top of the warp core wasn’t there. Even more unsettling was that it was like there was nothing, as if that area had never existed.
As she moved around the warp core it became more confusing. She could not see through the area to what was behind it, although by walking around the core she could see that it was in fact there. Stepping back towards where they kept their equipment she grabbed a scanner and tried to get a reading on the area in front of her.
Looking at the results, her eyes widened, “That’s impossible, there has to be some kind of reading.”
She slowly reached to her chest and tapped her come badge, “Engineering to the Bridge, We may have a problem!”

A Duty Log by Cadet Corbin Noir

Cadet Corbin Noir took his kit to the bridge to test the calibration with Lt, Wrenchit. He was on his best and efficient behavior as he stepped on to the bridge of the Sutherland. This was the first time he was up here. Most of the time he was either down in Engineering or helping with repairs on the ship. Would one of them be asked by Wrenchit to be on the bridge, and if so, who would he pick? Ronov? Mia? Talon? or even me? Noir wondered as he proceeded to do his task.
After calibrating the Engineering console, Noir returned to recieve his next task, which was checking another section of relays. Noir grabbed a few fresh relays for his kit, as he used the last one on his first repair. "A good repairman is always prepared," His father used to say as they worked on repairing hover cars in their repair shop.

Corbin smiled at that memory as he made way to the next set of relays to check. To check all of the relays would take almost all week, but Lt. Wrenchit wants all areas checked with a fine toothed comb, and Noir had no objections to not making sure the ship was ready for the cruise. "Remember, Son, put your best in any repair you do. Your crew will be counting on the engineers to be able to fix anything," was another thing his father taught Noir in his late teenage years.
With the words of his father and his determination to do his best, Noir continued down the list of relays to check.

Rippleberry Ice Cream
Vorta-Human fusion

Ingredients:
½ c. orange juice
½ c. raspberries
½ c. blueberries
¼ c. sugar
Dash of balsamic vinegar
1 (14 oz) can of sweetened condensed milk
Pinch of Salt
1 ½ c. heavy cream

Instructions:
In a small saucepan, combine the orange juice, both berries, sugar, and vinegar. Cook over medium-low heat for about 10 minutes until the berries are soft and easily mashed. Press half the berries through a small sieve and reserve their juice. Set aside the remaining berries.
Set out two medium bowls. Pour the condensed milk and salt into one and mix in the reserved berry juice. Pour the heavy cream into the other bowl and with and electric mixer beat until the cream is light and fluffy, about one minute. Fold about half of the whipped cream into the condensed milk and then fold that mixture back into the remaining whipped cream.
Spread about half of the whipped cream mixture into a 9x5 loaf pan. Spread the reserved berries over this mixture in a layer and then spread on the rest of the whipped cream mixture. Make several good swirls using a spoon to distribute the berries in a decorative layer.
Cover with foil and freeze for at least 4 hours or overnight. If the finished ice cream is too firm, let soften at room temperature for 10 to 15 minutes before serving.
