Mission:
Shake Down Mission
Location: Personal Quarters
Teaya slowly moved about the kitchen making supper for her and Dean. He had gone to sickbay to give a hand. They were all overworked there. Well everyone was, that wasn't laid up injured. Those still healthy had to pull hours for the injured. After this she may have an influx of people in the spa area of the counseling center. Thinking about all this made her miss work but for now she had to heal and the cat and mouse game would resume. She went back to her task at hand however slow it was. The roast chicken was making their place smell devine.
That he was, but long enough was long enough. Taking off to come home. Coming in and unzipping his tunic. “Damn..that smells good? Lemon roasted chicken?”
"Hi honey"greeting him with a kiss. "Yes, what was your first clue" she said smiling up at him.
Returning the kiss, he shrugged a little, “No idea really. Just one of those investigative hunches.”
She just smirked. "How are things in sick bay? Is it slowing down any?" She would have to tell him sooner or later. If she didn't someone else would eventually. She will tell him after supper.
Peeling the tunic off and setting it aside. “Its slowing down, most of the minor injuries have been taken care of. Relief ships and all also. What made you want to cook?”
"I'm kind of stuck here, so why not." Walking slowly back to the kitchen. Why don't you go wash up and then you can set the table please."
Dean nodded, “Of course, dear.” Giving her another kiss before heading to the bathroom and clean up. Change out of his clothes. Coming back and setting the table up for them.
Making a pitcher of mint water for herself and getting Dean one of his favorite beers she set them on the table. "Would you mind bringing the platter with the chicken and roast vegetables in? I'll get the rice pilaf." Turning and making her way however slow it was back to the kitchen. Ten steps right now felt like a hundred.
Without a word, Dean moved from the table to the kitchen. Picking up the platter and putting it in the middle of the table. Waiting behind her chair for her to pull it out. “How was your day?”
"It was okay. A bit lonely and boring with you gone. I thought you were in the study when I woke when I didn't find you there, I went looking for you on the bridge." Teaya had sat down as she talked and dished up rice for herself then Dean. Before starting on the vegetables. She watched his face closely as sometimes only a flit of his thought could be caught on occasion.
Scooting the chair in under her, “To many important things to do.” Moving to sit down himself, there was no clear look of being upset, nor was his expression stoic either. “Did you think I would be upset you left our quarters? You’re not on bed rest.”
Giving a slight shrug. "Not so much upset but wasn't sure if you would be unhappy about me going out so soon. She did say I was to do nothing but rest." Taking a drink of her mint water she continued… "Mardel on the other hand was not quite happy to see me. In one piece maybe but not on the bridge. However she has the bracelet so we will need to try and contact Veld again, unless you already have."
She took a bite of her chicken.
He shook his head a bit, “Its not like you were doing anything strenuous. And no, I haven’t tried him again yet actually.”
Small talk through dinner continued. After they finished they cleaned up the table. "Leave the dishes, I will do them later. Let's try Veld. I'm a little concerned we could not reach him earlier this afternoon."
“As you wish,” Dean could do them but if she wanted to that was fine. “Lets go check.” Heading over again and bringing it up like before. Standing behind her while she had the chair.
They didn't have to wait long as this time the call went. Happy to see their friend, Teaya smiled brightly. "Veld, it's good to see you my friend. How are you doing?"
“Well there you are, what happened last time we tried calling?”
"Nice to see you Princess and Dean. Oh, I have been very busy with verk." Veld moved in closer to the monitor. "Princess you look different. Glowing, but chat is that mark on your beautiful face?"
Subconsciously Teaya reached up and placed her hand along her cheek and jawline to cover the bruise and scratch there. "Hazards of working."
“She’ll be alright of course, no need to threaten me with death,” Dean smiled lightly.”We have news, and we have a favor to ask as well.”
Veld eyed him a moment and when Teaya smiled he looked back at her."Vhat is this favor you ask and vhat news?"
Blushing a soft pink Teaya looked up at Dean then back to Veld. "One, we are engaged and two, I found out this morning we are expecting a baby in about eight moons give or take. I was wondering if you would make a teething bracelet for our baby." His face lit up like a bright star and was laughing heartily.
"Of course, of course. Anything for you Princess. Dean you better take good care if not I find my vay to you." He eyed Dean
Dean motioned to the screen, and of course his tone was teasing, “And there it was..always with the threats, my friend.” Shaking his head with a smirk. “Of course.”
Teaya giggled a little, anything more than that hurt just a little bit.
Veld gave his notorious belly laugh. "You are a good man Dean no matter vhat people say when you not here. So a bracelet for ze baby? That is all you need from me?"
"I can't think of anything else. Hmm maybe a rattle? Let me know the price so I can send you credits." Giving him a quick wink. "I'm just happy to see you and that you're okay."
“Well...one more thing actually. Once we’ve picked a date and all, I’d like you to be there and one of my groomsmen.”
"Yes, yes I vill be zhere. You have rings yes?"
Teaya looked at Dean then back to Veld. She did not have a ring for him but she was not sure about Dean.
Dean shook his head, “Unfortunately, we got entirely to busy lately. Its starting to slow down. I know, one could see that as not an excuse, but saving lives were more important. That we did, and we’re both alright, is even more important than that. We will, unless now you have something in mind.”
Veld nodded as he understood their jobs. "I make beautiful ring for my Princess and a nice ring for you my friend. Veld will take care of all. I must get back to verk."
Teaya blew him a kiss. "Thank you my friend. Much love."
“Goodnight, Veld.” Dean reached and ended the connection. “Well that’s good to know. He was just busy.”
"Yes, that is good. If he had the forge running hot and banging out metal I'm sure he would not have heard the call coming in. Very sweet of him to make our rings. I will be happy to see him when he comes. I think I need a hot soak in the tub."said as she stood up. "Join me or do you have work to do?"
“Not until in the morning. I’m not exactly a doctor. They have this handled and don’t need me to oversee the patient transfers.”
"Oh good then I have you to myself at least till morning. NW sent a message earlier reminding me she would be here in the morning. Shall we?" Teaya headed towards the bathroom.
“Mmhmm. Indeed you do, and indeed we shall.” Following her.
The water drawn and the healing salts added, Teaya managed to get in and ease herself down this time. Sitting forward leaving room for Dean to slip in behind her.
Dean gave a bit of a stretch before getting in behind her, “You like those don’t you.”
"What's that dear?" Once he settled into the water she leaned back against him and gave a contented sigh. "One of my favorite places to be."
Motioning to her stash of the healing salts, “Those.”
"Oh, yes, I do. They really do help the aching muscles. And for that, I'm doubly greatful. I'll be even happier when these 'sucker' marks are gone." Holding up her arm and looking at the offensive marks.
Dean kissed her arm, “They don’t bug me, they shouldn’t bug you. They’ll go away.”
"Almost always so easy going when it comes to us. One of the many things I love about you Dean House."
“And you putting up with me, and seeing more, is one of the many things I love about you,” kissing the nape of her neck.
"And why is it we have to wait two weeks?" She was missing him intimately and the warmth of his kiss made it even more apparent.
His head tilted a little bit, looking at her curiously, “For what? To get married?”
Turning her body slightly at the waist and looking up at him. "No silly, to be intimate. NW said we had to wait two weeks. Shouldn't it be more if I feel ready? Not like I can get pregnant" she gave a small nervous giggle.
“Mmm...that. I’m not exactly a doctor, but I thought there wasn’t that long of a wait period. A day or two at inception, sure. Its been longer than that.”
"If I counted right, I conceived the night we got engaged. Figures right? Fates say Oh your pledging your lives as one, let's just make sure you do." She shook her head slightly and her loose updo flopped slightly from side to side with her movement. "Fate has a warped sense of humor at times don't it?"
Dean kissed the nape again and then the other, “I would think so. And see, I don’t see any risk in it.”
She groaned… "you're killing me babe. Let's at least wait till after my appt. in the morning in case she has this weird sixth sense thing or something." It was not what she really wanted, but there were other means of pleasure and she intended just that. A big bowl of chocolate moose track ice cream with whipped topping.
“You’re the one that mentioned it, love.” Leaning back. “We’ll wait then.”
Teaya raised her arm straight out from the water to watch it drop from her fingers to help distract her but it was useless. When she felt the most vulnerable is usually when she wanted him most. The floor dropping from under their feet , crashing into the river with the blood suckers then finding out she was pregnant was making her feel insecure and vulnerable. Two feelings she didn't like.
"Don't remind me."
“I’m sorry, love, I don’t like it either.” Dean gave a stretch.
"Let's go have some ice cream."
“And what is moose track?” tilting his head a little bit.
"It's delicious is what it is. Vanilla ice cream with small peanut butter cups dipped in chocolate and a delicious fudge chocolate rippled through the vanilla like a vein of delicious black gold. That's what moose tracks is." She stood to get out of the tub. The more she thought about the ice cream the more she forgot about being intimate with her husband to be.
He was holding a towel out for her. “I think I can get into that.”
Stepping out of the bath with a small giggle, "I figured you would".
“Do you think the replicator has enough energy for the amount for us to eat?” Reaching to wrap the towel around her and then get at least half clothed. Also getting her a number of choices, unless they were just going to go nude.
"The way you eat, maybe not." Shaking her head as she dried her body off before slipping her bathrobe on. "Come on my human garbage disposal, let's get some moose tracks".
Dean goosed her here and there on the way out of the bathroom, “Human garbage disposal huh?”
Giggling and jumping as he goosed her, she walked a little faster and put her back against the wall. "Yes, and you know you are. Can you behave yourself long enough for me to program for the ice cream?" She winked at him knowing good and well he was in a playful mood and anything could and probably would happen.
“Mmm…..I suppose you have long enough for me to think of an answer to the question.” Moving over and to sit on the corner of the table.
With a smirk she just shook her head again." How kind of you."
“Well of course, baby.” Giving a look up and down a moment, in thought, “You know what? I think we should get you some shorter bathrobes.”
"Hmm and why is that dearest? I happen to like my long warm robes after my bath or shower." She turned to look at him, putting her hands on her hips. "If you aren't careful, I'll replicate some of those old fashion 19th century flannel night gowns or what were those called I heard my grandfather talk about once… something called a onesie?" She began laughing. Teaya knew they would probably come up missing very quickly if she did.
“Because I like looking at your all the way up there legs.” Giving her a not so amused look at the second part. “Won’t work, the kittens will eat them.”
Teaya began laughing even harder. For spite one night when he would be working late she would do just that. The replicator finished their ice cream. "Want to get some spoons?"
House was under the impression that usually the replicator included utensils, but if it didn’t, then he would oblige and go get the spoons for them. Coming back, “Got them. I think, couch. We don’t need to eat it at the table.”
"No argument from me, couch it is." Handing Dean his bowl and taking her spoon Teaya followed behind him to the couch. Dean sat, Teaya took her seat but not before crossing her legs and the split up the front of the robe falling to either side showing her leg to mid thigh. Mentally she smiled to herself, she knew the reaction she would get.
“You know what we need right now?” He was going to say a holo-vid, or something, if they weren’t going to conversate to much. Though he tried the ice cream and saw that leg, which he just praised earlier. “Oh god that’s good.” Which was he referring to? Or both?
With a self satisfied grin she got the reaction she wanted, however she had to stick to her guns. She knew she was playing with fire when she showed him just what he wanted. Cursing herself she bit down on her tongue till it hurt. "What did you have in mind to watch honey?"
“Since, I usually pick, because you agree with what I go with. Whatever you want to.”
Teaya paused a moment spoon in mouth as she was taking a bite of her moose tracks ice cream. "First I have a question. We had talked about waiting till Mardel had her twins, so now that we are having a baby, do you want to wait till after the baby is born?" Taking another bite of her ice cream, "I guess it's not going to matter, either way my dress is not going to fit." She was a bit somber because her dress was stunning. Now she would never be able to wear it.
Gone was the ice cream. Why didn’t that give him a brain freeze? It just didn’t, that or he kept using the tongue to the roof of your mouth trick. Setting the bowl down, turning to her. “We already talked about it again and left it in the open. No, I’ve decided if you want to we don’t have to wait.”
"It's just…" sighing softly. "It's just I had my heart set on my dress. I didn't tell you I bought it in case we never got married. And, in another month I won't be able to and after the baby I certainly won't because it's cut for my body now, there will be no wiggle room after." Stopping a moment realizing she was rambling and stabbing at her ice cream with her spoon. She had had enough and gave the bowl to Dean. "Rambling I know, but even if just a small ceremony I wanted it to be perfect, perfect beyond us getting married."
Dean took the bowl and set it aside also. She could eat it after the discussion. “Teayana, yes..you’re rambling, lots. Okay..but listen to me.” Taking her hands. “What did I just say. We don’t have to wait. All we have to do is get the Captain to officiate since we don’t have a Chaplen on board..not that I know of.”
Teaya crawled into his lap and nuzzled his neck dropping a couple of kisses. "Thank you. How much longer for our cat and mouse? I will go to Mardel in the next day or two and talk to her and you will have to call Veld back. Oh boy… there's much to do."
“Besides tonight? One day. Then we’re back to it.” Curling his arms round her and shifting a little bit once she crawled over. “There’s time enough for us to finish the games and then have it and you still fit into the dress perfectly.”
"Well enjoy this because before long I will be big and gainly, you won't want me in your lap for a while." She kissed his cheek.
He gave her an odd look, “I can pic….” nope, nope, nope, nope. Absolutely not going to finish that sentence. “Pick out a nice bouquet for you to throw.”
Now it was her turn to look at him oddly. "And why would you pick my bouquet? Did you have something in particular in mind?"
Dean shook his head a little, “Not yet. I don’t know. What came to mind to say.” Please let that take care of the almost foot in mouth.
Teaya kissed him tenderly. "I love you Dean House."
“As I love you, Teayana Starr, and our baby.”
Kissing him again this time a little more passionately.
Of course was returned, just as much, if not more. The passion put into himself and given forth from him. It was even more than with his dead wife, and there wasn’t the fear of losing Teayana or the baby. For now, but the closer to term it would manifest.
"Let's go to bed" said breathlessly when she pulled back from the kiss as she laid her forehead against his. Somehow in the passion they wound up horizontal on the couch.
