It takes Flower about 5 minutes to get to her destination: engineering.
Tinker?
Sineade was busy checking the systems in engineering from the main console. She saw Flower enter and smiled. "Hey Petal Girl, sick of the bridge already?"
“You could say that. I was so stiff walking to the bridge and having to stand at my station,” She carefully stepped down the stairs.
"I know what you mean." Sineade replied with a frown, "Physical Therapy does NOT make it easy to move. I don;t care what the doctor says."
She stumbles a little getting down the stairs as she has to grab fast before face planting, “How do we heal when we have shift right after?”
Sineade shook her head, "I have no idea. Come sit over here and relax, if that is even possible." Sineade indicated a chair next to her and motioned to the crewman there to go help Flower.
Flower is helped to the chair, “That’s better!”
"Thank you Crewman Foster, please monitor those systems from the secondary console," Sineade moved her fingers across the console to continue her work. "Actually, I'm glad you came down. I have to get some measurements for your chair. And I'd like your input on the design."
Flower purred being beside her friend. “Okay. Can I have some water?”
"Of Course!" Sineade eased slowly from her seat and hobbled to the replicator, "One glass water chilled, One cupbowl of water Chilled please." In less than a second the glass and cupbowl appeared and she carried them back to the station. "Here you go, Flower. " Sineade placed her glass down before easing herself into the seat once more. "I love how we are 'mostly healed' but still can barely move with any grace."
Flower took the cupbowl and lapped a good while. It was very refreshing. “I have never hurt this much. How are your legs ?”
Sineade absently rubbed her legs at the question, "Well, Night Wind says they are completely mended. And it's more that my hips, or rather the joints at the pelvis are what is really bothering me now. I guess, considering the amount of damage that should be expected."
“All of my bones are also mended. For me it was more having a building on my back and pinning me down that makes it slow to move. “
Sineade sort of chuckled, "That would hinder movement. I don't think it's the bones as much as it is the tendons and the muscular damage that she couldn't completely repair. It sort of has to go at it's own pace." Sineade shifted slightly in her seat to ease the pressure on her hips, "I just wish it would hurry the heck up." Sineade suddenly laughed, "Oh, did I tell you what Sean was doing? Seems he was sneaking into sickbay late at night to check up on us. He told me he once picked up your Rait and put it back in bed with you because you seemed to be looking for it. He said the way you snatched it made him jump back for fear you might accidentally claw him."
Flower tried to curl her tail, but let out a cry, “I didn’t mean to claw him. What did he think of your purple gorilla?”
Sineade chuckled, "He said he was glad I finally had someone to share my bed. He can be such a jerk!"
Again Flower wanted to curl her tail in laughter but couldn’t. “That’s siblings for ya. “
Sineade nodded, "yeah, it is. But it's kinda nice knowing that he was actually checking in on me. One of the nurses mentioned that he had worn a groove in the corridor with all his pacing back and forth."
“That’s sweet of him. Now you need my measurements?”
"Yeah, it is," Sineade agreed, "surprising, but sweet. As for the measurements, I have a few questions. What would be the most comfortable position for you? Should it be more like a regular chair or something more.... I don't know... feline? Like a perch of some sort?"
“Well I didn’t want it any different than the captain chair. Also don’t make the chair different than the other chairs on the bridge. I don’t want special treatment . And as for a perch, I have th at in my second quarters off the battle bridge”
Sineade mused for a moment, "Hmm, not really enough room for a chair that size. Although I can make a more streamlined version since you don't need to have all the controls that the captain's chair has. And I can even have them stow away into the floor if need be. For those people who prefer to stand. Maybe..."
Flower purred seeing the excitement on Tinker’s face. “Well why don’t you surprise me as I surprised you with your new tools.”
Sineade smiled, "I'd like that. Give me a little time to work it out and then I can get started." A light started blinking on her console indicating a need for power to the warp to increase. "Can you keep an eye on that monitor, I want to make sure the shields are fully operational at all times."
“Sure I can.” Flower watched the monitors. “They did have to do something that wouldn’t burn the shields when we did a two second warp jump. “
Sineade nodded her head, "Yeah, have to keep power steady and watch the modulation of the shield harmonics. Especially if we use more than the one normal warp drive."
Flower kept watching it closely. “I am enjoying helping you. “
Sineade quielty nodded her head, "I enjoy you helping. Maybe one day I'll be able to return the favor." Sineade kept a watch on the monitors from the bridge as well and could see what was going on. "Something tells me the Klingons are just getting started. I really wish I had some faerie magic that would expose them about now."
“We have been trying to find a way to do that. “
"Too bad we can't just release a billion little nanites whose sole purpose is to find the Klingons and attach themselves to their ships," Sineade said absent mindedly, "Let's see them hide behind their cloaks then."
“Would be fun! So now what?”
Sineade sighed, "Now? Well, we wait for orders from the bridge, or something that warrants an immediate response, like shields. Other than that, we keep watching."
“I should probably get back to my post
I left it so abruptly that I think I have my superiors concerned,”
Sineade smiled over at her friend, "You could, and I am sure they are worried about you. I'll have a chair beamed up for you for temporary use. At least until I can get one installed."
“You are such a good Tinker. I can’t wait to see the chair.” Flower purred more
"And I can't wait to make it for you," Sineade leaned over and gave her friend a hug, "Thanks for getting me through all this. For being my protector, both physically and emotionally."
“Unless you want my assistance down here,”
"While I would love to keep you here," Sineade said, "I think the command staff would have something to say about that."
“Perhaps. Ok can you help me up the stairs?”
Sineade smiled and eased up out of the chair, "I can hobble up the stairs with you. Crewman Foster, assistance please." Crewman Foster came running to help holding out an arm for Flower, and let Sineade place a hand on his shoulder.
Flower purred and licked Tinker hand as they all walked slowly.
Sineade smiled at Flower. Having a friend like her was the best gift. And she would make sure that Flower had the purrrfect chair!
